Rob Sheffer: Guitar/Ukulele Teacher, Vocalist, & Composer























We are pleased to have Rob Sheffer teaching for our studio program in both Mt. Lebanon and McMurray.  Rob is an accomplished guitarist and composer, as well as a vocalist. He teaches guitar, ukulele, and voice.

Rob Sheffer is a regularly performing guitarist and vocalist in the classical, jazz, rock, and musical theater styles. As a guitarist he has performed for former First Lady Laura Bush, was a semifinalist in the First Lancaster International Guitar Competition, and was a winner of the 2011 Grove City College Concerto Competition. His contemporary acoustic composition “If I Could Fly” was recorded on the 2010 “WSAJ & SCA Collaborative” CD. As a singer he has trained in the Royal School of Church Music of England style. He has performed in a variety of volunteer and professional vocal ensembles in Pennsylvania and New York including Vox Lumine, a professional chamber group from Southern Tier New York. He specializes in arranging a capella settings of popular songs and currently holds the title Composer in Residents for the Houghton Singers in Houghton, NY.
            
Sheffer holds a B.M. in Voice and Guitar from Grove City College and an M.M. in Guitar Performance and Composition from Houghton College. He has taught voice and guitar privately and in the home school community in York, PA, Grove City, PA, and Houghton, NY. He has also taught music theory and ear training skills in the colleges he attended. As a teacher Sheffer believes in the importance of well-rounded musicianship.
