Alex Marthaler: Piano Teacher and Composer

We are pleased to have Alex Marthaler teaching for our studio program in McMurray.

Alex Marthaler is a composer, pianist, and educator in Pittsburgh, PA. A classically trained pianist who specializes in contemporary classical music, recent experiences include serving as a church pianist, studio musician, and large-ensemble member in the Philadelphia area. Alex has recently focused on the importance of world music, and he performs regularly with the University of Pittsburgh Carpathian Music Ensemble and has studied tabla, an Indian drum.  His own compositions reflect this fascination, and have been performed and recorded by several area musicians and ensembles. He teaches private piano students and has worked with several high school ensembles.

Alex Marthaler holds a B.M. in music composition from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and is currently a master’s student at Carnegie Mellon University. He will receive his masters degree in Spring of 2016.
