Ensemble Development for Preschoolers!

Musical Parenting Tip – Play and create music, together, with your  preschool child!

Why?

  • As an equal part in an ensemble, children actively participate in, and guide their own learning.
  • Creating music, as a group, allows children time to reflect, compare, make choices, express opinions and engage in problem solving activities.
  • Being part of an ensemble reinforces musical skills like steady beat, dynamics & tempo.

How?

  • Play ‘Simon Says!’  Help your child find some sticks to play, and follow along for ways your child can experiment and discover ways to play.
  • Have a family game of ‘Follow the Leader.’  Will you choose seated movements, or traveling movements?  Will you play your instruments quietly, or loudly?
